The Irish FA have confirmed that over 1,000 members of the GAWA will be allowed to attend the play-off final against the Slovaks on Thursday 12th November. 1,060 fans will attend the game, following the Government’s guidance on social distancing. This comes after the success of accommodating 600 fans at last month’s Austria clash at Windsor Park.
To many, this has come as a bit of a surprise given the strengthening of the Covid-19 restrictions in the week by the Northern Ireland Executive. We’re thankful to all parties involved in the discussions that helped to secure that at least some fans can attend our biggest game in three years.
Campaign Card holders have already submitted their express of interest to attend the game and the Irish FA have announced that successful applicants will be notified early next week. The recipients of the limited number of tickets will be decided by a ballot.
The 18,500-capacity Windsor Park will still feel far from normal but could the presence of the GAWA make all the difference on Thursday night? Time will tell.
